True Self Realization :10 Questions to Ask Yourself

Home > Energy Healing > True Self Realization :10 Questions to Ask Yourself

Self realization is a term used in psychology, philosophy, spirituality, and Eastern religions. It is defined as the "fulfillment by oneself of the possibilities of one's character or personality,” according to Wikipedia.

It may be the same as self-actualization or self-manifestation.

But now, it’s time for us to re-define the term:

Self realization is the fulfillment by oneself of the possibilities of one’s spirit, one’s soul. Because one’s character or personality could be just an avatar.

Prerequisite for Self Realization

We are manifesting our wounded-self more or less until we complete our spiritual healing. It’s a mixture of our real and wounded self altogether.

So, it’s crucial that we advance our healing process if we ever want to express our authentic self.

Till then, the world will not know who we are.

When we’re Present, we have more clarity and following our inner self-guidance. Not what others or the society tell us. We start speaking words of our soul and expressing our true self to the world.

Becoming more of who we are is the first step. Expressing it in our best and unique way is the next.

Stepping Out of Comfort Zone

Now, I want to discuss a bit about the second step: Expressing your true-self in your best and unique way.

Many of us don’t even know what we really want to do in our lives because we’re so used to living our lives following what we should or must do, not what we want to do.

We believe that we cannot survive if we only do what we like and want.

But is it true?

It’s quite time for us to ask this question more sincerely than ever.

I want to live my life only doing what I like and want, why not?

I am not saying that it's going to be easy, but certainly doable.

Around year 2013-2014, I started encountering people who decided to do what they like and want, in the way they want. Around this time, I was thinking about my freelance job. Even though I was freelancing translation jobs, I still didn't feel that I was free. As I always had to put someone or something else before me, sometimes (or most times) I had to make compromises just for the sake of money.

These people I met say 'No' to something if they don't like it. They have their own rules.

The question remained. How can they do that? Are they not afraid of losing their jobs or reputations?

It took me another few years to find the answer for this question myself.

When we don't know what our fears are and how to deal with them, we are slaves to our fears. We're so afraid of losing something, we won't dare to do certain things. But sooner or later, we all need to confront our fears.

Know yourself.

When I learnt what my fears are, slowly they started losing its power on me. And I started to learn how to use my mind (head) in more creative ways to think about the ways I can make my ideas come true. When there is a separation between our mind and heart, it cannot be happening. And we need to use our mind to assist our heart.

It's not quite soul expanding when limiting and constraining ourselves into a small box just because it feels safe.

Stepping out of comfort zone and putting ourselves out there is a gutsy thing to do, but maybe that's what we need.

There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do.

Marianne Williamson

We don't have to pursue enlightenment to manifest our true potential. Just know that we all come here to shine our true-self into the world. Not just to obey the majority and the society so that we can pay our bills and mortgages.

We are all free spirits.

People around us will be afraid of us. As we trigger their inner fears. They will project their fears upon us. But that's not the problem. Be bold and just know the fears are theirs, not yours.

We all go through this process.

Here is some simple yet powerful work we can do for self realization.

Take out a journal and write down the answers to the following questions.

Remember to go beyond any limitations, norms, and so-called ‘common senses’ when doing this work.

Step 1: Ask Questions

  • What are the experiences that you felt most excited for in your life so far?
  • What if you will keep receiving US$ 10,000 every month for the rest of your life, what would you do?
  • What are the things you like? And why do you like them?
  • What are the things that you spent the most time and money on in your life?
  • What is the highest achievement in your life so far? And how and why did you achieve it?
  • What are the emotional signatures you had then?
  • Who do you admire? And why?
  • What are the qualities this person possesses?
  • How do you want to live your life if everything is allowed and why?
  • What is the self-image you have by answering these questions above?

All the above reveal your uniqueness and true potential. We won't know what our true potentials are till we dig deeper into the topic. Most of us don't even think about it.

It's all about us shining our-self into this world, expressing our true-self.

Step 2: Give a Permission

The next step is to give yourself a permission to live your life the way you want. Most of us are very rigid to ourselves and don't even allow us to live the way we want. But who's life is it? It's ours. We can live our lives the way we want.

Say this out loud: “I now give myself the permission to live my life the way I want.”

If you feel some resistance when saying it out loud, that is where your limitations (blockages) are.

  • What are they?
  • What are they telling you?
  • Where in body do you feel them? Spot and connect to them.

For example, you may want to quit your day job and start pursuing your passion for painting, but you think you cannot.

  • Why is that?

Give it a voice and write down the reasons.

I cannot quit my job because...(complete the sentence)

Maybe you think that you cannot quit your job because you have a family to support and you are responsible for them.

Ask yourself:

  • Is it true?
  • If so, why?
  • Does this belong to me?
  • If not, who does this belong to?

Again, people around you will project their own fears onto you.

For example, your family may say that you are too selfish or even childish for pursuing your passion.

  • Is it true?  Who does it belong to?

It's them who don't want you to be free, because they're not free. It's their fears, not yours.

Think about the benefits of doing only what you like and want. Is it possible you make other people happy when you choose to do only what you like and want? Who will be happy if you do that?

What we need here is a 'think outside the box' attitude. The mind feels comfortable with only what it knows already. We need to go beyond that.

We will still have fears on our way, we advance  with courage.

Be Bold :-)

You may need to repeat this work several times until you have a clearer picture of what you want for your true self realization. Continuous work will shine more lights on your subconscious mind, and limitations will eventually be healed.

It’s important to give permission to each one of the reasons, regardless.
